This is the best account of the history of the neoliberal organizations beginning in the 1930’s. Very detailed, well-documented.

Excellent collection that has essays on the neoliberal projects in different countries; also essays on specific themes (unions, corporations, development, etc.). This is probably the best reference for most folks and contains enough history to provide a framework.
